Kajang is a town that is left with an aging community, as many of the young people have moved out from the neighourhood of Kajang. As the word moves and technologies improved, many people tend to chase for the modern lifestyle and leaving places that is rich in heritge and culture like Kajang behind.

Design Concept
The AKAR SUTERA Art Center in Kajang aims to bring colours back to the lives of Kajang people and help to reconnect the segregated community, by attracting youger generations back to their roots, Kajang.
The name of the art center is derive from the aim and the activities happening in it. “Akar” is roots in Malay which represents the aim of this art center which is to being the younger generations back to their roots while “Sutera” is silk in Malay, where silk is soft, smooth and felxible, it symbolises art and dance, which are the main programme in this art center.
